A little of Santorini in Okinawa

Have you ever wondered where can you  have a romantic date in Okinawa?
Specially when those anniversaries, birthdays, or any other celebration comes up. If so continue reading! If not ? Also continue reading! haha.
I’m not kidding you could also make it a NOT a date thing and go explore instead.
I have the perfect place for you.

Santorini, Greece.

Emm no, actually in Okinawa is called Umikaji Terrace. Located in Senaga Island.
Isn’t this incredible? Even if you can’t afford to go to Greece right now, you could go to this place and literally feel some  Santorini Vibes in your life. I know I did.

The good thing is that this place is so versatile. During day it has a casual look. During the night it has more of a classy kinda look, resembling a magic place. Sadly we did not get to see it at night but we will definitely be back.

This picture is from a Map I took at the island.

If you want to spend the whole day at this little but fantastic Island, I recommend you renting paddle boards and head to the beach. Go get your tan lines and have a good time. Afterwards, go and explore this gem until the night falls and consider watching the sunset.
It consists of 42 local stores which 25 of them are cafes, restaurants, and places to have a nice dessert. So why not have a dinner with an awesome seaside view and after go for a yummy sweet? I mean If you are staying the whole day, then you might as well do the whole experience, right?

There’s this  place that sells  A-M-A-Z-I-N-G hamburgers. Babe and I decided to eat there just because sometimes we could be some FOOD JUNKIE bastards and wanted some greasy food.
Have you heard of the yummy burgers of Captain Kangaroo up north Okinawa? Husband says that this place is definitely their competition and you know what, I think I could agree with him!
Visit both and tell me your thoughts!

Look at that monstrosity!

Remember if you are not feeling the hamburgers, there are plenty of other places to eat with  great ocean view as well. This terrace has 3 floors to explore, each floor with different restaurants. There’s even a pancake place which looked pretty good. The restaurant even had lines of people waiting to eat ,for that same reason we couldn’t try the pancakes, but maybe you get lucky! There’s also a hammock cafe , which you could stop there and relax in the hammocks while drinking a coffee and watching the breathtaking sunset.

Now lets talk about desserts, the Bomb!
This little cafe is called Kame Andagi. They are open from 10 am to 9 pm.
Their sweets are worth trying, even if you are concerned about your weight. Share the calories with husband instead, but don’t leave the island without trying them!
I must say beforehand that they don’t take credit cards, only Yen.

Glorious!

Are you feeling tired and your feet are sore from a whole day of walking ? Then don’t leave just yet!,  Go and enjoy a free hot spring that there’s in the area , and rejuvenate your feet. Ah it felt so good!.
I am obliged to say, this is just a “sample” of an amazing hot spring that there’s in Ryukyu Onsen Senagajima Hotel (in this same Island) If you are into hot baths then I strongly encourage you to go and check it out. This little free area felt so good, Imagine how  superior and divine the other one in the hotel must feel and look. Great way for relaxing with babe, shit or even alone.

To wrap things up , If you are visiting Okinawa(or living here) and looking for a romantic place then I urge you to go and visit this little gem. Honestly, the pictures do not do any justice, go and take a look yourselves. Don’t leave Okinawa without checking this Santorini-like Island. Who knows maybe you could never go to Greece. But hey you came to Senaga Island, instead. haha

Seriously One thing I learned in life is , if there’s no money to travel, be a tourist in your own country.  In my case, I’m forever a tourist where I currently live, Okinawa. Always trying to find new things to do, new places to visit or new foods to try. Don’t stay home instead go and explore free stuff, learn its culture, go to a new beach and festivals, until you have enough money to take a good and deserved vacation to another place elsewhere in the world.

Let me know what you think. If you already went, did you like it?  I want to know! Dont forget to tell me ! 🙂
More importantly always find something to do with your partner! Even when you travel always try to bring a little of romance in to your journey.
Have fun!

Safe Travels,

Stephanie
